The Shawano County Literacy Program is a very complete program.  This program has given me the confidence I need at work and to being an active participant in our community.

Elsa

Shawano Literacy is supporting people that want to do better in the country.

Santy

For me the “Literacy Program” is very good.  It has helped me change my life here in a postive way with my family and at work.

Zac

My experience is that Shawano Literacy has given me a connection with other people that speak English.  This has helped me to build up my confidence and to continue learning.

Sophia

Class gives me support in many ways besides learning the English language.  I am able to keep in contact with other Spanish speaking people because I have no family here.

Dulce

The literacy program is helping to develop my English skills.  In the past I couldn’t speak English, but now I do.  This is very important to me, because I have health issues and need to speak and understand my doctor.

Shawano County Literacy Council,

Thank you for the invitation to get together on May 11, 2019.  Sorry I am not able to come.  Here are a few words of wisdom you may share with the group.

Your organization helped me a lot!  Hope you continue to meet and grow.  You helped me and others who try to succeed and master the basic living skills:  how to fill out important papers, land and housing permits, hospital, school entry papers, health and life insurance.   The list goes on and on.  I still read my Bible.   I am using a youth Bible.  If that is the level I am reading at:  It is ok!  I understand it better.  I also buy books at the Dollar Tree Store in Shawano, educational workbooks.  If I do not understand a word, I look it up in the dictionary and word find books.  I do the activities , then spell the words, and try to write the meaning to the word.  The joy of reading!   Thank you!

Susan
