The Shawano County Literacy Council began in 1993 with a group of eight women who saw a need to further literacy in Shawano County. Twenty-seven tutors were trained and over the years hundreds of adult learners have benefited from the free services provided. We have tutored learners from countries as diverse as Vietnam, Mexico, China, Honduras, Guatemala, Columbia, El Salvador and Italy as well as those born and raised in Shawano County.
